![]() Her it is, the New Improved Touring Guide by J. V. Edwards, AKA as Mr. Ed. beginning with about what seems like a year ago when we played 3 shows at the Olympia in Dublin. This venue is not new, and is in fact a beautiful Victorian/Edwardian theatre, which means it looks great in the hall, and is pokey, smelly and boiling hot backstage. That was fine, 'cept we had a TV crew with us for 2 days, doing a programme called "Stars and their dressing rooms". If the programme had been called "Stars and their toilets" that might have been okay, but sadly it wasn't. On to the shows. Lots of mainland Brits, plus a lot of familliar Irish faces, and we certainly rocked the house, as they say in young people's circles. Trust me, I met one once... We all agreed that the second night was one of the best ever shows we've played as this line-up, i.e: it really had it all, great band and billy. The third was almost as good, but didn't have quite the same edge, however we did have the benefit of a visit from the gorgeous Rachel, who is 16 and is destined to be one of the world's top models in about 3 years or so...lovely.... The best VW bonnet ever... Sorry, getting carried away, haven't been home for 3 weeks now... horny, moi? Who will save/molest the Rhino? Applications please on a blank cheque to: Mr. Ed, Oral House, 114 Titslinger Street, Knickerless on Sea(men), Sexville. UK 696969. Bromide for tea, methinks..
Oh yes, we went from Dublin to Norway, where FITLC was no.2 in the album chart, only kept off the coveted no.1 slot by Destiny's Child. I hear they're some type of flip flop or whatever it's called group. How dare they! Anyway, we were there to appear on the Norwegian version of Big Brother, which was really weird, we were the first people they'd seen or spoken to for 58 days. They came out onto the patio, and there we were, playing Caroline. A little shocked is what I'd say they were, we went in and had a cup of tea and chatted for half an hour, not for me, thanks, that lark. Hardest game in the world that, I used to be on big brother meself, 30 years man and boy, do you like Harry Connick junior, or is he just a cheap pretender to Frank Sinatra's throne? I'M GOING!!!! OK!!!!
After a warm up gig in Padreborn, it was time for TTTNE (the tour that never ends) to hit Geermany. (That's what Scousers call it, which should be hugely informative to those of you living in southern Poland) in Osnabruck. Some changes to the set, we brought back Gerdundula and the Mystery Song medley, which is as I speak starting to really click, things do evolve, and there's little nuances and tempo changes which make it what is, and you gotta feel them, not count them. Again, lots of familliar faces waiting outside, the opening band are called SweetyGlitter, which bands do you think they cover? Dead good at what they do, and the Quo Willhelm do seem to like them. Unbelievably the cloud seems to have lost us at the moment, what a beautiful country Deutschland is... The gig wasn't the best, first night proper and all that, but it wasn't (as we're in Germany) the Wurst arf, arf..
Off to Gelsenkirchen to an outdoor show we only did a year ago, I remember then during the encore seeing an amazing storm getting nearer and nearer, I thought this year the cloud was gonna find us, but as I said just now, it's a little confused at present... Great gig, the songs are being played a bit slower of late, largely due to Matthew becoming more confident, it's like playing with Tony Adams instead of Pat Jennings, both brilliant in their own right, just different. Different opening act, a solo artiste if you will ladies and gentlemen, by the name of Pit... The cloud didn't let us have it, and we got off to the ripper for Munich, which also contained a mini beanette, and finished with a hard earned day off. I mean, 3 gigs in 3 days, that's asking a lot, innit?Circus Krone. What can I say? We've had some amazing gigs there in the past, this one was no exception. Blazing hot, packed, and the usual brilliant crowd. Francis and Rick did something they don't ever do, and had a blazing row backstage, about nothing in particular, as most rows normally are. They must have been not the best of friends for at least 6 minutes afterwards... Right that's it, I haven't been logging on 'cos we're doing too many night trips to make it possible, as the alchohol does funny things to my head, not as you'd notice, anyway, mine's a bratwurst and soda, choooosxcxxx ![]()
