Denmark and the Faroe Islands.   Part Two

Copenhagen
Saturday August 9th

Now where was I?
First of all, the other bit of the tour log should have been up days before it did, but some idiot forgot to give the hotel receptionist the correct Fax number, Edwards or something his name was, a complete prat obviously...

Ah yes, Copenhagen...
It all sounds really rosy most of the time doesn't it? And today is no exception, a glorious day and an early gig, plenty of lay in time as well, with three kids you really do appreciate it. A short flight from Aarhus to Copenhagen and as luck would have it, the gig's about 10 minutes from the airport.

It's in one of the parks, from the stage you can see the sea, and lots of people have turned up. Blue Oyster Cult are opening for us (as they say in the States) amazing players, not my cup of tea but seriously good musicians and nice people.
The vibe on-stage was even more lighthearted than normal. I'm sure people thought we were taking the piss, we were grinning so much, but we played great and went down the usual storm.

Andy Taylor, our sound man, told me later that Ricks voice and playing has improved so much since his op, it's like a different musician. That really encouraged Rick when he heard, so look out for an even more corking show if you see us anyplace.
We went out for our company (Acklode) annual general meeting afterwards, OK, a piss up in an Italian restaurant called Vesuvius, which certain parts of my body felt like the next day! I swear we must have eaten Denmarks entire stock of Garlic, Chilies and Peppers, I went to bed and could hardly sleep for the taste of garlic in mouth...ah, poor Johnnie...woke up early for the trip to the Faroe Islands.

The Faroe Islands
Sunday August 10th

Pat Marks, our lighting man told me later that day that no-one could understand why the whole plane reeked of garlic, I did.
We've got a problem here, I watched our gear go onto the plane, and 5 minutes later, most of it came off 'cos it was too heavy, so it remains to be seen if we'll do the gig, but I'm sure we'll find a way. If you look at an atlas, it's where the hell are they time. This is the most middle of nowhere I think we've ever been, in fact, we're somewhere in the North Atlantic, 430 km south-east of Iceland, 600 km west of Norway and 300 km north-west of Scotland. When we landed, I thought we were going to crash, by the way. The airstrip was built by the Brits in world war two and is not really designed for modern airlines.

We're staying in the capital Tórshavn, in a hotel with a grass roof. sadly you can't smoke it, looks like a gigantic hide for bird watchers. Neat downtown, I got the wrong impression of the islands. Just because it's not as developed as the UK doesn't mean it's naff, and I made a wrong assumption. Andrew and I walked around for a few hours, had a meal, drank some sad pigs (pigs ear..beer) and ate a Pizza, came back and watched the news, and thought why? As in why do they live here, well I was wrong...
Torshavn, Faroe Islands
Today (Monday) Andrew, Julie wardrobe and I went walking and we walked non-stop for three hours and I gotta tell ya, it's MEGA, so unspoilt, moss and lichen, wild sheep and horses, and sooo...quiet, today was one of the top ten walks I have ever had.
No shit, fantastic, this is written just before the gig, could be a first, on the net in a reasonable amount of time after we've been on-stage.

11:30pm
Just off to the hotel, a rather strange gig, not unexpected considering they get about one or two bands a year, in fact, one to forget, being totally honest which is a shame, I won't tell you which crew member got so drunk last night that he threw up and wet himself, his face throughout the gig was a picture!

Yeh that's it, I've run out of paper, Look forward to seeing you all soon,
Thanks for coming, and to some of you,
Thanks for having me,
Love,
